Elephants

Thursday, 1.19.12.

I got to pet an elephant on a shoot for the Circus! Elephants are on my list of Top 5 Favorite Animals, so this was very exciting! Even cooler, when I stepped inside to mic the talent, the elephants were drawn to me immediately! What an awesome experience.

So I'm a couple days behind, and I actually didn't take a photo yesterday, so maybe I will just share a previous photo instead.

We shot an episode of our Morning Show at a reception at Trōppo before the Michigan State of the State adress.

This is the only pic I took that day. What can I say? I love posh bathrooms.

Longcat

I was actually going to skip posting today because I hadn't taken a picture and I told myself I wasn't going to post another pic of the kittens.




I was walking in to go to sleep and I looked down and there was Leela imitating longcat. She is getting so big! We still don't know how old she is, but we will probably find something out on Thursday when she goes to the vet.

Longcat is lonnnnnnnnnnnng.

Contrails in the sky...with diamonds(?)

So as I was getting ready to upload this photo and write this blog, I realized one important thing.  I didn't know the name of the things that were the reason I even took the picture in the first place.  So...to Google.

Today's fun science fact: You know those white lines in the sky that follow jets?  They're called contrails.  They're formed when water vapor in the exhaust of the engine form ice crystals.  This happens no matter what the temp is, which is why you see it in the summer too.  Pretty cool huh?

Snowmageddon 2012

I may not have mentioned this, but I have decided to only post positive pics of the day on my blog, because otherwise, what's the point?

You probably know that I am not a big fan of winter, but we finally got the first big snow of the winter yesterday and here in GR, it continued today and this evening, and it is delightfully refreshing and beautiful!

I got to play in it a bit when Kyle and I went out later to the grocery store.  Even though I'm enjoying it now, I'll probably be ready for summer again soon!

Sleepy eyes

So last night Kyle ran to the store around 10 PM and I laid down for a nap...and didn't wake up until 9:15 AM this morning.

Eco-friendly bags

You will never guess what came in this bag:

I finally had a reason to print something, so Kyle and I got out the printer we bought a couple months ago.  Ky opened the box and...the printer was in an eco-friendly bag?  Ok, awesome!

The printer is awesome.  It's an HP (of course) Photosmart 5510 wireless scanner, printer, and copier.  I gotta give major props to my man for hooking it up! I just emailed it some documents that are printing as I type...

American Idol

American Idol is coming back to FOX for it's 11th season next Wednesday, January 18th.

My mom is a huge fan of the show.  In December 2011 when I was working on Ice Brigade, Matt Giraud (from season 8) came to play the ice piano for one of the episodes.  I had no idea who he was, but when I found out, I obviously had to get a pic for my mom.

Pants on fire!

I told Kyle that I wasn't going to take a picture of the kittens today, but then Bender had to be cute and lay in this laundry basket.

Our friend John has a cat that looks like Bender but is a girl named Leelu (ours is Leela). That's the only related story that I have for you today.

Unrelated, my friend posted this song by Death Cab for Cutie on Facebook today.  I hadn't heard it in a really long time.  "I Will Follow You Into the Dark", so good!

The Lion King (Princess)

I really like that our kittens have names together, but I always tell Kyle that I would have named Leela "Nala" otherwise.  The kittens both act like lions anyway.

On a related topic, I heard this song from the Lion King today.

Clean sheets

I washed my sheets today, and of course right after I completed making our bed all comfy, kitten crawled right on top of the huge pile of pillows.  The kitten always takes what it wants, it doesn't care.

By the way, our kittens are named Bender and Leela after the cartoon Futurama. It's hilarious...way better than the Simpsons.

Watched the Lions vs Saints tonight with Ky and Smash while drinking NFL Playoff Bud Light. I'm posting this at halftime - Lions up 14 to 10. We still believe!!! Go Lions!

*Edit January 8th:  The final score of the Lions game was 28-45. It was a great season though and can't wait for the next! And thanks to Andrew for joining us for the end!

The horizon

So after a long day yesterday, this morning's commute was exhausting, but I've been trying to focus on the good things in life (like this). One of the things I really love about my drive every morning is the sunrise.

I don't think I will ever forget today, even though I didn't know it when I took this picture.  I can't say what, but new things are on the horizon!

The bar that won't be named

Behind the scenes at this evening's shoot in the bar that won't be named.  I don't want to spoil the commercial for everyone!

Being at the bar really just made me want to get my dance on to Rihanna and Calvin Harris' "We Found Love", which the radio is slowly spoiling for me just like every other song I like.

How I Met Your Mother

Ky and I made this Frank's buffalo chicken dip over the weekend, and we had some chicken leftover, so we made delicious FRANK'S SANDWICHES tonight.  I love Frank's.  I put that shit on everything.

This is Kyle and our adorable kittens Bender and Leela.  Our friend Grant hates it when people post cat pics, but it's a scientific fact that people "like" posts about cats 90% more than non-cat related posts.
